It had to have mountains, water and trees. She took me to her home and showed me a painting by a well known artist and then she she stated that another well known artist was looking at this painting and mentioned that it would be better if it had some animals in it. I didn't pay too much attention to it and set out to paint her a picture. I must have gone out 4 or 5 times armed with French easel and canvas. I couldn't be satisfied with any of my efforts. One last attempt found me on the river looking towards the eastern face of Red Mountain. I was painting away and it was going good when I was startled by sound of something large clomping over rocks and water. I turned to see a group of wild horses making their way to a patch of green grass on the far shore. They stopped to eat and I painted them into my landscape.
