From the Artist: Some of the wild horses that roam along the Salt River are considered to be descendants of horses left by early Spanish explorers. They are also referred to as Mustangs which is a derivative from the Spanish “Mustengo” meaning “ownerless beast”. The wild horses have worn trails winding through the mesquite and cholla down to the river.
