For me, water in the desert always evokes wonder and awe. I wish I could recall the name of the renowned author that felt strange and uneasy upon visiting a pool of water in the desert. He left, taking care not to disturb or offend "the witch of that swamp." I keep returning to a theme on the Salt River, to a real location, sometimes with a new painting, sometimes reworking an old painting but always trying to evoke the wonder and awe of water in the desert.
